lock to the cloned reader?
It should also be synchronized to avoid acquisition of the write lock while the
clone is underway. Ie, only one of those can "win".
The first time a reader with pending changes is cloned, it transfers the write
lock to the clone. If that same reader gets cloned again, that's fine (but no
write lock needs transferring again).
BTW can you sync up your patch to the latest trunk? Or, let me know which
revision your patch is based on? (I'm having trouble applying the patch).
