Has anyone tested performance of this last patch? One thing that concerns me
is this change to TermScorer:

- return norms == null ? raw : raw * SIM_NORM_DECODER[norms[doc] & 0xFF]; //
normalize for field
+ return norms == null ? raw : raw * getSimilarity().decodeNorm(norms[doc]);
// normalize for field
{code}
though it could easily be in practice that it doesn't matter.
