I think we may be forgetting that many of the people on the list are probably new to programming, the Internet, and discussion lists, and aren't aware of the etiquette involved.

For people new to programming and discussion forums Eric S. Raymond's essay titled *"How To Ask Questions The Smart Way*" is an essential read.
