before u all rush to get the JDK 116 port to the redhat 5.0 ALPHA box,
my ISP has sent me this nasty-gram regarding excessive web access usage
( see attached ) . ergo, when my 250 meg transfer limit is reached for
the month, that will be it for the month.

ANYWAY:
the JDK comes in two parts
        1) jdk116_alpha_21164a_linux_bin_v1.gz
        2) jdk116_alpha_linux_classes_v1.gz

from my web site at http://www.voicenet.com/~gatgul/JDK

It was built on a LX164 with the redhat 5.0 distribution. I used egcs
1.1a, and used the -mcpu=21164a option -> so i suspect that folks with
21064 ( ie previous generation ) processors will have problems with
execution. the 21164 should be faster as it has byte & short mem
fetch/store instructions.

I am ( still ) using lesstif-current from ( www.hungry.com ) - current
as of this week (9/10/98). lesstif still works good with my java/awt. i
have not tried ( or in fact own, or borrowed ) a motif library.

The X server ( XF86_SVGA) that I am using for my matrox millenium II,
has alignment problems ( nukes X ) when i hit the wizard botton of
supermojo ( a java ide ). the X server comes from rawhide
XFree86-3.3.2.3-20.src.rpm ( compiled with gcc -O0 -g ). It used to be
that java nuked more often than X or lesstif, but not so anymore :-)

sorry still dont have much info on the installation of the JDK - but i
suspect its not much different that is done by the i386 porters. I also
don't have much of a web site either :(

anything more - gimme a shout.
