Maarten,
Try using the swing graphics library. It has a componenet
called JTable which is suitable. I've been using Swing under
a different "popular" OS lately (guilt...), I like it.

This begs the question -

Open question to the  Community: is Swing available for
Linux? Is it stable enough?
