I can't speak about 1.2, as I know nothing of such matters, however,
I can tell you with certainty that SWING will work just fine under
Linux. Swing is a widget set written in 100% java and has some
(minor?) dependencies on the existing awt code. Just download the
"COMPRESSED TAR" file format, and you're good to go.
