I used JEdit for a while, which nothing more or less than a 100% 
pure Text Editor (syntax highlighting, auto indention, compiler 
interface, etc included).
Great tool, but it brings JDK 1.2pre1 to crash after some minutes of 
typing.

So I switched back to NEdit which has similar features, but is not 
pure JAVA, but available for several platforms:
