A bzip2 RPM came with my RedHat 5.2 box. Did you try to install that?

I do not speak for the Blackdown developers, but bzip2 does a lot better
job at compressing when compared to gzip. The bzip2 download is much
smaller which makes it a lot easier to download on a slow connection.
I would think that this makes up for the requirement that you type
"rpm -i bzip2*.rpm".
