I think getting some funding for Blackdown would be great if (a big if)
the available talent is available, willing, and able to set aside their
day jobs to do the work.
Another big (bigger) if is whether the definition of "Open Source" can
be stretched enough to include a project that is most definitely not
open source. (A quote I read somewhere recently observed that the SCSL
tries to give the appearance of open source without assuming any of the
responsibilities.) There is serious potential to make this a divisive
issue within the open source community.
