I am a beginner to Linux, but I have sucessfully have install applications that don't use RPMs before. But I am a little stuck on installing JRE 1.1.7 v3. I downloaded two files, jre_1.1.7-v3-glibc-x86.tar.gz and jre_1.1.7-v3-i386-native.tar.gz. Now I ran "tar -xvzf [filename]" to each file and it extracted the files. Fine, now what? Should I move them somewhere? Is there a default directory? And what else do I need to do?
