Hi,

the latest development version of Tritonus, the JavaSound implementation
for Linux, now includes mp3 support. This is due to integration of
javalayer 0.0.7, a pure-java mp3 decoder developed by the javalayer
project. The big credit for this goes to Eric B. who wrote the decoder.

The integration into Tritonus is VERY ALPHA. Limitations include:
- There are many hard-coded values, some of them are just wrong
- It is only possible to decode mp3s with 44.1kHz sampling rate and
stereo.
- The codec is not yet accessible via the normal API.
- Programs crash at the end of the MPEG bitstream
The version including mp3 support is 0.1.81a. It can be downloaded from
the Tritonus developer page.
