My fault. I'd set the rendering hint on the wrong graphics context. When
I got it right I did see an improvement in the quality of the circles.
Unfortunately the time taken to redraw the map has now increased to an
unacceptable level. Under JDK 1.1 I'm getting several redraws per second;
with JDK 1.2 and no antialiasing I get about one redraw per second, which is
barely acceptable; with JDK 1.2 and antialiasing it takes about 2 seconds to
redraw the map.
