That application is running on an Xerox server for Xerox internal clients. It will probably go to external clients in the next quarter.
I've been using java since the alpha 3 release way back... I've been doing imaging stuff since 1.1.5. I went through some problems with jdk1.3.1, but I must say that 1.4.1 has been great for our app. When upgrading the JDK, I recommend doing complete testing on your application. This should include functional tests and load testing. Make sure memory is well behaved over the long haul. With any JDK (and any software, for that matter), there will be document and un-document bugs. I've run into both. I've had to work around bugs at times, but that has been very rare.
Good luck.

i quoted you rob.... but still they say that there might be some unknown bugs.... so unless they are sure that companies are using it successfully without any problem, they cant take a risk to develop something over 1.4 and then pass it on to the client!! they say that they know of no company using 1.4!!! Well I know jdk1.4 is much richer than 1.3 ... trying to push them for the same... Thanks and regards, Nishant--------- Well what does that mean anyway, "stable?" JDK 1.4 had numerous little bugs and quirks, especially drawing issues, but most of the obvious ones were fixed pretty decently in 1.4.1. Any application is going to have bugs however, and I'm sure 1.4.1 still does as well. But tell your boss 1.4.1 is "stable.". There , I said it, and you can quote me. I recently needed to extract various image info. I did it using the image i/o api in the jdk1.4 .. which is teriffic. But my company says that they dont believe the stability of jdk1.4 and if there are any companies or the services running over jdk1.4 what should I do to push them? Is there any information providing the companies or the services examples, using jdk1.4 ?? Thanks for any help/pointers.
