Does the following mean that the Macintosh users are going to miss out
on 3D technologies again?
I know I felt pretty bad when I was forced to switch to Win and Irix to
do higher level 3D animations because of the lack of support for 3D on
the Mac. If Sun isn't going to do it and Apple doesn't have time, who
will? Are there any third party solutions? How difficult a task is it to
build a Java3D implementation for the Mac anyway?
There is no Java3D implementation for the Mac; the MRJ team certainly
doesn't have the time to do one. Gerard says that one impetus for his
implementing OpenGL support was that someone else had a project to
implement Java3D on top of a Java OpenGL library.
