Eric,
I recently surfed through the maze of video cards as well. There are some
reviews on http://www.hardwarecentral.com , http://www.3dhardware.net , and PC
Magazine just did a thorough review of video cards at http://www.pcmag.com .
>From these reviews, it appears that the nVidia RIVA TNT chipset is the way to go
today. 3dLabs is supposed to be coming out w/ Permedia 3 in the next few
months, but if you need one now.... After looking through all of that
information, I narrowed it down to 3 nVidia chipset cards: The Elsa Erazor II,
Creative Labs Graphics Blaster, and the STB Velocity 4400. I finally decided on
the STB Velocity 4400 and ordered it just last night. It is worthy to note that
my local CompUSA carried none of those cards in stock, and I ended up ordering
it from http://www.buycomp.com .
I'll let you know what I think when I get a chance to play with the card.
