I know that Open GL, Java 3D, even the new Hot Java browser
are not supported under Solaris x86. My question is,
why would Sun claim to be fully behind Solaris x86, if
they support all of the above on many competing OS's
but not on Solaris Intel? I guess you could be cynical
and say it is an attempt to get you to buy their
hardware (if you like Solaris and you want to use it,
you must buy our hardware), but then why even offer
Solaris for Intel in the first place?
We have an Ultrasparc and an Intel machine, but I would
like to run an app that requires Open GL and one
that requires Java 3D on both machines? I could understand
this more if Sun only ported all of the above to just
Solaris SPARC and not to NT, Linux, etc..
