Just use;
Java3dColor[0] = ((float)RGB[0]/255f);
Java3dColor[1] = ((float)RGB[1]/255f);
Java3dColor[2] = ((float)RGB[2]/255f);
[being careful with the cast!!!!]
and this will work pretty well!!!
