I also agree that getting Java3D to run in a browser was a bit tricky and probably 
should be documented better.  I am concerned
about the pervasiveness of Java3D and thus applications I build in Java3D if there are 
these kinds of impedance barriers for novice
users.

I'm assuming that this is all going to be fixed over time.  Is that a safe assumption? 
 One way to allay these kinds of fears is for
some kind of 'roadmap' to be published by the Java3D developers so that the growing 
community around their technology can plan
accordingly.
