The way we've done this in the past is with InstallShield. We've had
setup entire "machine in a box" installs which installs the OS, apps,
java and a bunch of pre-defined elements all in a single hit. If the
original installs use IS, building a custom one with a number of them
plus your own code is realtively trivial (J3D/JDK use IS). The guy we
have here can do a complete setup in under an hour - 5 minutes if he's
just rolling another release of an existing build.
