Perhaps somebody has some input on the following:
1) Is it legal for developers to package Java3D as part of a download from their own
site?
2) Also, what kinds of installers are there for non-applet type Java installs to
Windows computers?
Ideally I would like it if a typical user could visit my site, fetch a single Windows
executable which would unpack the Java3D
executable and execute it and then install the project itself afterwards.
I want to have installations which require the minimum amount of clicking since I feel
that anything too complex is going to deter
anything but the most determined users. I may have to go and write a small
downloadable installer stub that then fetches and
installs other dependencies based on whatever the client is missing.
I can't use an applet style approach today because I have some JNI bindings that don't
survive security permissions issues.
Thanks in advance,
Anselm Hook
