Disclaimer: We don't have it running on an IRIX box either, but I have a
number of thoughts:
Firstly - The downloaded: Does you FTP download go through a proxy
server or something that caches the file (for example Squid)? If so, the
cache will automatically return that version of the file instead.
Therefore, if somehow the d/l got terminated a little early leaving a
few bytes missing then no matter how many times you attempt to download
the stuff, it will be corrupt. If possible, do a direct connection.
Otherwise you are going to have to fin and alternative site download it
to there and then fetch from this point (for example, telnet to an
external box, ftp, then ftp from that).
Second - Steve and I got an email message a couple of days ago from a
guy that has just got stereo working on SGIs. He's sending us the
information and we'll post that to the FAQ as soon as possible (we're
quite busy doing some redesign work on it at the moment). This means
that it can be done and I suspect it could be something in your download
or local configuration.

"Look through the lens, and the light breaks down into many lights.
Turn it or move it, and a new set of arrangements appears... is it
a single light or many lights, lights that one must know how to
distinguish, recognise and appreciate? Is it one light with many
frames or one frame for many lights?" -Subcomandante Marcos
