I bet 5 years. The biggest supplier of OS's and browsers (which many people
consider to be a monopoly) seem determined to obstruct Java2. Even if they
were forced to do so, it would not be in time for Windows 2000, and how
often do non-techie users upgrade their OS?

Are there any other mechanisms that would get Java2 and Java3d on most PCs
and consoles? Is it possible there could be a killer Java3D application on
CDROM? or which is so good that people will do a 1 hour download?

I doubt if this is a popular view, but is it really realistic that
developers on this list can expect a mass audience for their Java3D applets
AND applications in the near future?
