Well, if it's like any other large software product, it would be a
bleeping nightmare to do it that way. Some fixes depend on other
fixes, each fix would have to be documented, packaged, tracked, etc.
etc. I agree it will be good to see a new release, and it would be
nice to see them more often.
My complaint is that Javasoft should make sure GUI stuff like Swing
and Java3D works on the bulk of platforms that will be running it.
I can almost see telling someone they need a Sun box to run some
Java e-business server. I can't see trying to convince a company to
replace all their PCs with Suns to run your data mining/modelling
app. If Java is going to be popular, it has to work right on the
popular platforms. I want to hear "I have it working on NT, and
we'll get it working on Solaris" for GUI stuff, not the other way
around. But that's just me. :-)
