At least with my experiences on the SGIs (I'm using mainly 6.5 systems, I
can't even get Java working on 6.3, some sort of library issue...but I
didn't try very hard anyway...:) ), it is pretty slow.  Those hardware
OpenGL renderers don't seem to be doing overly much.  Don't worry, all the
machines are pretty much like that, not just yours.
