See www.elsa.com for shutter glasses and a hot graphics card.
Currently their drivers will support directX on many graphics cards and
there is an opengl driver for one of their cards.
The nice part about this technology is that it requires no coding as it is
all driver based. It also works quite well (I have a pair and regularly
play games wearing them) but you do need a good monitor as the technology
relies on showing a left eye image and then a right eye image effectively
doubling the required frame rate, which adds pressure to both the graphics
card and the monitor.
They claim you need a monitor capable of 120hz refresh. In practice this
means a modern 19"+ . So to summarise if you have a bog standard PC then
expect to pay $500 to $900 to get the kit required for quality stereo
viewing. If you have a good monitor and a modern graphics card then stereo
can be yours for <$100.
Note; Stereopsis, as it is known, is a perceptual phenomenon that shutter
glasses exploit. In practice the stereo effect is extremely limited when
viewing a display using much less than 1024*768. The reason for this is
quite complex suffice to say that the effect breaks down at poor
resolutions, so if you try to get this effect without the right level of
hardware all you are going to get is a headache.
Ask an Optician to explain how they calculate the visual ratings they use
for classifying quality of vision and you will understand.
Happy Viewing

Subject: [JAVA3D] objects in strero mode
Hello,
does anybody know, how I can realize that objects emerge from the screen
in stereo mode?
