It really beats me too, u know. And why do we always need to delete
java.exe and javaw.exe files from our Windows dir after JRE
installation? Why do i need to write additional installation programs
4 JRE/Java3D _installation_ programs in order to fix all that stuff?
Why do i continually need to make excuses to my boss that though JRE
and Java3D have their own installation programs, they most probably
wouldn't run if the end-user wouldn't check 4 this and 4 that in his
dirs (that was especially frustrating 4 JRE1.2.1 or below, with the
necessity to duplicate ext dir to the lib dir). Why every time i run
my J2, Java3D powered program on some new system i expect not its
normal working, but a crash? Why there is no JRE automatic
installation under NN, though it is under IE? It took me around 3 days
to study all the stuff, from NN security to NN SmartUpdate technology
and come up with jar package that installs JRE automatically, without
any pain under NN. Why?

Well, all those questions have been asked too many times here. So,
hopefully, someday all these problems would be gone.

vladimir

PS: please, do not interpret this my letter as if i blame SUN for all
sins in the world. Personally i consider J2 and J3D as simply the best
and the most convenient and powerful technologies available right now.
I AM enjoying J2 platform. But we shouldn't forget that the problems,
and serious ones, the ones that DO prevent both J2 and J3d from
spreading around the world, DO exist.
