Mike,   There are unauthorised W2K drivers that get leaked out of nVidia that support hardware acceleration, go to www.reactorcritical.com. Java3D Performance issue on Win2000 I know for a fact that the nVidia drivers shipped with Win2K have no hardware acceleration support.  This may be the case with other venders as well.  As soon as I installed nVidia's new drivers all was well.  It may take a while for the various vendors to come out with Win2K/DirectX7 drivers.
