hi all,
i have updated the applet and *hopefully* taken care of some of the problems
some were having.
you can point your browser to http://www.nevada.edu/~adamt/pendulum.html or
if either that doesn't work or you don't have a Java Plugin installed with
Java3D support you can use your appletviewer to see
http://www.nevada.edu/~adamt/pend.html
i have also added a download link to install it as an application if all
else fails. and i put the source code up if anyone is interested. if you
view the console you'll see the frames per second. i'd really appreciate it
if you could tell me how it performs on your various machines.
when you first load it you should see something like:
Java(TM) Plug-in: Version stanleyh
Using JRE version 1.3.0 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
as the first line in your console window. if you don't then you are
probably not using a java plugin. if you see the following in your console
that means you aren't using a plugin and the netscape Java 1.1.5 VM will not
be able to see Java3D... use the appletviewer or try to download the plugin.
i don't think IRIX has a Java Plugin that can view Java3D yet.
>>Netscape Communications Corporation -- Java 1.1.5
>>Type '?' for options.
>>Symantec Java! ByteCode Compiler Version 210.065
>>Copyright (C) 1996-97 Symantec Corporation
if you see this something like:
>>java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError:
java.security.AccessControlException:
>>access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission modifyThreadGroup)
>>at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
i think it might have something to do with J2EE AND/OR the classpath. i
don't have the applet reading any files so this is a bug of some sort.
please let me know how it goes and if the animation runs well on your
hardware. and if you have a bug let me know and please include your
operating system/JRE/JDK version and all the lines in your console that
pertain.
thanks again everyone,
adam
