I'd completely agree with the recommendation of NVidia GeForce cards for
Wintel PCs.

As to laptops and the ATI Mobility chipset... ATI seems to be completely
unwilling to provide support and has made NO effort to support OpenGL.
So on these laptops about your only choice is to use the DirectX version
of Java 3D.
