I feel like I am very close.
I have my overlay geometry rendering nicely.
Text is crisp, background of chat box is partially transparent. Ok so a
few questions:
1) If I just generate a whole new texture, say
twice a second, what happens? Garbage collection aside, will this end up
causing my video card to start swapping textures madly? Is it smart enough
to realize that once the texture is removed from my shape that it is to be
"deleted" from the video card?
2) I really don't want to use the byreference flag
since it was posted this is not standard, nor dependable that a copy will not be
made.
3) If I do the yUp and by reference thing then my
texture comes out upside down! I am using a buffered image and drawing
onto it.
4) If I do byreference, but not yUp, will it solve
the texture swapping problem, but still allow me to set the ImageComponant over
and over, paying the price for the copy, but handling the video card
correctly?
Thanks in advance!
