Rick Goldberg of Sun Microsystems wrote the VRML loaders, he is a scholar and a gentleman and his loaders have worked wonderfully, I've been using versions of them since 1999. VRML-97 is morphing into something newer and better -- and something much more complicated -- it's getting XML. Unfortunately support for the old open source loaders has disappeared and I'm not sure of the status of the new loaders. I hope, and most humbly request, that those developing the open source VRML-200x / J3d / X3d Loaders would give us status report on their progress including : - what the old loaders do - what the new loader currently do - when the new loader will be fully ready. Please post this information to the following: - the VRML, H-Anim, & Java3D Interest mailing lists - the comp.lang.vrml & comp.lang.java3d newsgroups.
