Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to optimize the Java3D Fly Through
application downloadable from Java3d homepage. I ran the CGSD.j3f on a
win2000 with 256MB memory, PIII 667, nVidia geForce256 32MB DDR, and to my
surprise I can only get on average 15fps. I believe the hardware is
adequate to execute the app with high refresh rates, but the app bottlenecks
at roughly 15fps. It's got approx. 275,000 triangles and when I loaded a
relatively small 41,000 triangle .wrl file the frame rate dropped to an
excrutiating 3fps. Sometimes it even froze. I've tried both flavours of
Java3D the OpenGL for Windows and the DirectX for Windows versions (8.0a)
with very similar disappointing results. Can you give me any tips to bump
up the frame rates?

Thanks in adv,

Jay
