In the Leyland Needham's Dictionary (0.99 alpha), it clearly says that
low-level is working directly with the hardware in machine code with switchs
on a box :). And hi-level is *before I think* "I would like to see a
beautiful girl", poof one appears, and of course not to over look the fact
that my brain would be a jar with a bunch of wires attacked to it :).
Everything else is somewhere inbetween...
