To even be less useful... I know that there is a Java3d resize policy which
you can set which governs whether the scene is scaled or whether more scene
is shown. So you can set it so that when you make the window bigger you
actually see more of the scene as the equation govrning FoV now encompasses
more virtual world space. Sounds like you have the other policy set, so
that it shows you the same view, just in a bigger window. That also would
explain the pixels (texels) being "larger".

The canvas greying out during the resize is a pretty common problem for 2d
imaging windows. Even in a 2d app you can get that effect. Basically *I
think* the buffer becomes invalidated when the window is resized, if the
rebuild of the buffer (from Java3d) takes longer then it takes you to move
the mouse one more pixel (for your resize) then the window can't keep up and
basically it stays grey.

I'm not sure this is going to help or not, but I have a Swing/J3D
integration set of demo code sitting in my Inbox that I want to put on
the site. Here's a comment from it:

// another J3D bug with JInternalFrames - if there are a lot of
Text2D obects and several scenes,
// there is a strange interaction
// between selecting windows and texture memory. After selecting
several
// JInternalFrames with Canvas3D items, Text2D items start
// drawing as opaque white rectangles.
// the only work around I can find is to either only have a single
scene or
    // not to use Text2D
// I would appriciate any other workarounds for JInternalFrames
people
// can come up with - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

As you can see, it talks about JInternalFrame, but the issue appears to
be a bit wider than that.
