I'm not sure if it is that or a driver problem. I've been seeing all
sorts of interesting problems when swapping polygon modes when playing
with my geometry demo program. Unfortunately the problems don't seem to
be repeatable. Sometimes I'll ask it to do line mode having just done
point mode and it sends it to full face mode. Other times it does the
reverse. I just can't get a handle on it to know what is going wrong.
However, one consistent problem that I can replicate, and believe is a
driver issue, is that point mode will, under certain conditions actually
render some polygons as points and others as vertices. I have this great
demo of a cone where I flick it to point mode and move to a location
that is below the bottom of the base and looks along the side. The base
polygons are rendered in point mode but suddenly the sides start
rendering as full polygons. As you move around a little, the various
polygons of the side come in and out. Note that this is a single piece
of geometry, not multiples with multiple Shape3Ds.
