My school had or was thinking of such a policy (I dont recall) because it was
a magnet school. I took a second language myself, Japanese (I am into anime),
but I hardly ever use it, and besides I struggle with speaking english as it
is, and that is my native language :). I was good at math science and
programming (what weak *basic* programming classes we had), but my english
classes I always did poorly. My school was also diverse, and a number of my
friends speak spanish, and its kind of funky that I would sometimes pretend I
understand what they are saying (using their expressions and tone to figure
out how to respond).
I dont care for the arguements of language myself (actually all arguements
are technically of language :)), but like people have said, if the majority
or the important people with answers can not read your post then dont expect
a lot of answers. It does suck when someone posts something interesting and
you dont understand it because its in another language but you can always use
a language translator, as long as the title of the email has something
hopefully neutral of language to indicate what it is, then if they are
interested they could translate it from spanish to english.
