There are known problems with our installer and the 1.4 Beta VM.
This is bug 4464766. You can keep tabs on the status of the bug
here:
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade
See the bug report for a workaround, or if you don't require 1.4,
use 1.3.1 for now.
