I can almost gaurantee that this is a problem with
ACPI and your motherboard (which will use a VIA
chipset). I had the same problem... and it drove me
nuts... then one day it just stopped.

Im not complaining, but im afraid that this means I
cant really help you out!

I have an abit VA6 I think, and a TNT2.

Try www.viahardware.com for some help. Also try
changing the ACPI driver in the hardware manager to
"standard computer". You may need to fiddle with your
bios also to get rid of ACPI, which basically shoves
every device on one IRQ, which should work... but
dosent for some!
