Hello,
I am having trouble running my Java 3D (1.2.1, 1.2.1_01 and 1.2.1_02 for
OpenGL) applet on Windows 98. Basically, the applet crashes (with the blue
screen of death). However, it crashes randomly. That is, I can not give
step by step instructions that would cause it to crash - it is a different
set of events each time. Now I have a variety of machines (i.e. different
hardware configurations for each) running 98 and on some it works (and never
crashes), but on one particular configuration it crashes consistently.
The configuration which crashes is...
Pentium III 800 Mhz
256 MB RAM
Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro
Windows 98, Second Edition
Sun Hotspot JRE 1.3
Java 3D 1.2.1 OpenGL
Applet is running in Internet Explorer version 5.00.2919.6307
One configuration which works perfect is...
1005 Mhz
256 MB RAM
GeForce2 MX (ASUS Dispaly Driver)
Windows 98, Second Edition
Sun Hotspot JRE 1.3
Java 3D 1.2.1 OpenGL
Applet is running in Internet Explorer version 5.00.2919.6307
The only thing I see as being a major difference is the graphics card. Has
anyone else seen problems with Windows 98 and that ATI video card? Are
there any work arounds?
Thank you in advanced.
Ciao,
Joe Boccanfuso
