Hi Joe,
recently I posted a mail into the discussion list that had to to with an native
code exception hapening on
a system with ATI cards (in this case ATI Rage Mobility on an IBM Laptop). After
some
endless tries to track the bug down, we found out that the driver produces
exceptions when drawing
special degenerated triangles (A-B-A). I cannot summarize were they occur, but
there are definitely some
in the com.sun.j3d.util.Sphere geometry.
I rewrote the Sphere generation and on my system and it works, now.
Note that we had this bug also some time ago an GeForce cards. It seemed that we
were drawing lot's of lines with
length 0 (A-A) that caused random crashes.
I would be very glad if you could report your experiences back to me. It's
really awkward to deal with those crashes.
Cheers,
Karsten
