Thanks for that pointer Michael - looks more than I need for my basic modelling. I'd been surviving on infrequent access to a friends copy of 3DS until now. The blender file menu seems to offer saving in the following formats:
VRML1.0, DXF, Videoscape and .blend >From the loaders page on j3d.org looks like I'll have to use DXF or VRML1.0 formats (assuming VRML97=VRML1.0?) with either the NSCA loader or the xj3d loader. Do people have any recommendations on what combination of format and loader to use to get models from blender into Java3D? Does anyone have an idea of the work involved in implementing my own blender loader? Thanks, Justin. -----Original Message----- From: Discussion list for Java 3D API [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Michael Knezevic Sent: 10 December 2001 16:31 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [JAVA3D] in addition - - - loaders, content etc --- Karl Parry <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> schrieb: > hi again, > Just wanted to add the following to the last > email... > > Is there any where I can get hold of geometric model > files, or geometric modeling software for free as I > don't really have a budget to buy any fanct 3d > software, or am I going to have to create my content > by hand with triangels and polygons?
