I don't know of anyone using it (at least none of the sites that I have links to use it). The closest I've seen is the Flipcode work, but that is still not AR (http://www.flipcode.com). I think the biggest impediment to using Java3D in AR applications is that you can't tell java3D to use a transparent canvas.
