I taught a class once with Rob Polevoi from
Eyematic and he discussed why he thought Shout3D
was better.

1) No need for a separate download; easier to
deploy on the net.

2) Simpler programming; less obtuse than Java3D.

The disavantages are:

1) only runs on an old verison of Java.
2) No fancy view model
3) Not a well known, wide spread as Java3D
4) Not set up to work with other Media APIs
--of course, Java Media APIs are not as
seamlessly integrated as one might imagine
either.

Subject: [JAVA3D] Java3D/Shout3D

Hello,
We are at the decision making part of a project and a question has been
raised regarding the choice of 3D rendering. I was wondering if anyone
here has had experience with both Java3D and Shout3D and could enlighten
me on the advantages/disadvantages of each. I have used Java3D and am
aware of some of its advantages and drawbacks but know very little about
Shout3D and their website only advertises its features (not
limitations). Any comments are welcome. Thank you.
