Vijay,

Java 3D 1.3 adds support for RenderedImage. You can now pass either a
BufferedImage or a RenderedImage to the ImageComponent2D constructor, and
then wrap the ImageComponent2D in your Texture2D, and finally add your
texture to your Appearace for a Shape3D.

Sincerely,

Subject: Reading DICOM file formats into Java 3D

Hi,
I wrote a while ago asking for help in loading DICOM images into Java 3D. I
got a JAI application that has a DICOM decoder. I have used the JAI code. I
am at the stage where I am trying to load the image into my branch group.
But, if I use code similar to the JAI application, the data is stored as a
RenderedImage But Java 3D does not allow this. There is a getRaster function
in the JAI application. But this Raster is from
java.awt.image.Raster.......J3D only accepts Raster images of
javax.media.j3d.Raster. Can someone help me? Is it possible to attach a
RenderedImage from JAI into the Branch Group of Java 3D? What types of
shapes/images can be attached?
