Hi,
I've used j3d for a few years but had no opengl/3d graphics experience
prior to that.

I came across the screensavers at www.voodoolights.com and I was wondering
if anyone had thoughts about:
++ what sort of opengl/(or general 3d graphics) features this program uses
to create its luminous, "volumetric" type effects( many of screensavers
feature spheres of "energy" buzzing around the screen)

++ ideas about have someone might achieve these effects in j3d. (maybe fog
nodes with point sources of light - or whatever. And in particular how do
you think voodoolights can render so quickly.)

In any case, my main desire is to create simple humanoid (maybe stick
figure built with cylinders) that glows tranlucently (in a manner similar
to the objects in voodoo lights) and does not really have concrete edges.

Hope this isn't too wishy-washy too make any sense. by the way, voodoo
lights is pretty cool.

thanks, nehal
