Odd. Which direction is your light shining on the sphere? If it is directly from the top then yes, the bottom will not be visible. Alan has been hassling me about the same. There are no texture coordinates being generated currently. That is, it creates the array for them, but the array is full of zeros That was one of those things that "I'll get back to it" and 6 months later I still haven't.
