i would suggest looking up the name, michael connolly and molecular surface. he was 
the first to describe a method for computing the molecular surface and the one who i 
referenced in my work on the subject. he has published several papers on the subject, 
which you can probably find reference to on the web and might be able to find online 
or at a nearby university?
