Thanks for the flowers :-) In the splashscreen at startup, I explain that the program is freeware, and that use in commercial products is prohibited without written licence by me. I didn't want to adopt a full GPL model or the like, but licencing comes down to this: + Engine and Demo are freeware and open source + Modifying, extending and using in applications is okay + Mentioning where that source came from would be nice + But: I don't want people to replace some textures with advertisement and republish + Because: The code is free, but a lot of work went into design, and the sound is by Crystal Method (so I cannot even provide licence to it) + So: Please ask before making money with the thing, I will agree if you use the code, but we would have to talk about using models and textures, too. I intended the demo as a kind of melting pod for all the techniques and algorithms that keep coming up in this mailing list, to help raise the general level of J3D apps and perhaps to inspire people to do more game development in J3D. Newcomers should be empowered to easily put together their first cool-looking applications. Pros should have a quick argument at hand for the "you-cant-do-that-in-java" crowd. And that's about it. Let me add another thought: If enough people would gather to form a project group for making a real powerful engine based on Yaarq (tasks that come to mind: Enhancing the loader to load complex objects, better object animation, more effects, shadow framework and so on) I would happliy donate all the source code and documentation for a start, and I would participate in such a project for sure.
