Assorted characters of the Java3D list. It's been probably 12 months
since I last sent out an email like this, so it's time I just sent a
reminder considering the recent state of my inbox.

I get a lot of mail from a lot of people asking me to help them solve
their Java3D problems. While I appreciate that people feel that I might
know enough to help (not to mention an email address with almost 10
years of internet use behind it), I really don't have the time to spend
sitting down and working through the problem at hand. Each email, to try
to run the code, then debug what is wrong takes typically an hour or
two. I get two or three of these sorts of emails a day. If I answered
your email along with everyone else, that is somewhere between three and
six hours of my day. Hopefully you will appreciate that I like to have a
life outside of computers (well, it doesn't seem that way at times, like
now, answering emails at 2am!) and I simply cannot devote that much time
to helping you out.

My working day is devoted to making money so that I can continue to work
in Java3D and 3D graphics in general, and therefore emails that I do
answer typically have something to do with money behind them. Yeah, it's
a sad fact of life that this becomes my primary motivator about talking
with other people about fun stuff, but you try running your own company
that employs half a dozen people and trying to keep them happy and paid.
That is, those that are mostly likely to get a response have to do with
things that I professionally work on - like Xj3D and to a lesser extent
j3d.org code - and those that I can toss out a one line answer to with a
reference to the appropriate FAQ answer link. Oh, and of course, those
offering to pay me more money :)

So please don't send me private emails saying "Important, you must help
me fix this now" as it will simply get deleted (not to mention you've
pulled all the right triggers for my spam traps so I may not have seen
it in the first place!). Refusal may offend, but I simply don't have the
time to deal with everyone and picking which ones to help and which to
ignore is a hard problem. It's far easier just to ignore everyone. :(
I'm sorry if this comes out bluntly or arrogantly, but my inbox is
overcrowded already helping people with problems that I've directly
caused through our toolkits. I really need to stop this prolific flow of
people trying to debug their applications through me.
