Has anybody tried to contact the author (Aaron Walsh) in this regard?
If yes, what is his take?

I do happen to have downloaded a copy of Walsh's example code way back when
I first bought the book (right after it was published), but I do not want to
broadcast it to the community in case there are legal implications.

I'd be willing to share, though, with individuals!
H.
